MedaPhor and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) sign agreement to develop MedaPhor’s ScanTrainer simulator for planned use in future ABOG examinations

Dallas, Texas USA; 1st March 2016: MedaPhor Group plc (AIM:MED) (‘MedaPhor’) announces today that its wholly owned subsidiary, MedaPhor North America, Inc., its US based provider of advanced ultrasound skills training simulators for medical professionals, has signed a long term agreement with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) for planned use of ScanTrainer as the ABOG’s ultrasound skills examination simulator within its obstetrics and gynecology certification exams.

The ABOG is the official body for certifying obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and conducts nearly 2,000 certification examinations per annum. The agreement with MedaPhor will involve the development of ScanTrainer examination modules and the purchase of ScanTrainer simulator systems. The commercial terms of the agreement are undisclosed.

Andrew Satin, MD, ABOG Vice-President and Chair, Simulation Committee:
“The ABOG continually seeks to innovate and improve its certification process. After an 18-month tender process, the ABOG selected MedaPhor as its ultrasound simulation partner due to the superb realism of the ScanTrainer system in simulating the ultrasound scanning experience, combined with the company’s commitment to develop cutting edge simulation technology. The use of simulation will allow us to evaluate technical skills. This is an important development for certification in obstetrics and gynecology and its subspecialties, and we are delighted to be working with MedaPhor.”

Stuart Gall, CEO, MedaPhor:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been selected by the ABOG to be their partner for embedding ultrasound simulation within the ABOG certification exams. The realism of the ScanTrainer simulator is perfectly suited to evaluate a physician’s ultrasound examination skills and we look forward to working closely with the ABOG board to help them achieve their commitment to certify examination candidates with the most realistic and effective ultrasound examinations possible.”
